Production

The control room of a Nashville recording studio.

Since moving to Nashville in 1998, I’ve had the honor of working with some of the best writers, singers, players and recording engineers in the entire world. Each time I step into a studio, it feels like the first time. I love this process and each session brings with it a new opportunity. I’ve been involved with countless recording projects from small demos for writers just trying to get a song heard and cut, to master recordings that have gone on to win major awards. I’ve been a part of these projects both as a musician and producer.

Nashville Songwriter Demo Recording

I have literally played on hundreds of demos for songwriters in Nashville. This process is so very cool. A writer has a great idea and sculpts that idea into a song. The next step is giving it that “Nashville professional sound.” I love helping songwriters bring their songs to life. The producers, writers, musicians, and engineers all work together to identify the correct energy and direction for this new song. Many times, the songwriter is going through this recording process for the first time. Time and time again they are amazed at how the whole process comes together. The way the producers and players communicate big ideas and changes with just a few simple words. If you are a writer and want to take your art to a higher level, contact me to learn more about how you can get that “Nashville pro sound” for your songs.

Nashville Artist Development

I’m so honored to have been a small part of so many talented artists’ journeys in, literally, every different stage of a career. Some artists I was along for the ride at the height of their career. Others, I got to be a part of the early time in a career that has yet to completely flourish. I love having the opportunity to help new artists begin their journey. Nothing rivals that moment when you perform a showcase for new artist who is trying to make it big, and that performance gets a recording contract for the artist. There’s so much to learn and, in Nashville, we are like a small family in a lot of ways. I always encourage new artists to surround themselves with people who are great at what they do, then let them do those things. Along the way, learn learn learn! Watch how the talented people around you do what they do. If I’ve learned anything from my time in the Nashville music business, I’ve learned that Nashville is full of good and talented people who got tons of opportunities from other talented people….just good folks doing the right thing. Relationships are everything here, and strong ones hold more weight than just about anything. If you are an artist who is looking to have a “break-out” moment in your career, contact me to learn how I can guide you through this process.
